On Friday, June 9th, Congregation Rodeph Sholom bid a fond farewell to Rabbi Sari Laufer and her family as they head to Los Angeles, California.
Rabbi Laufer was with CRS for almost all of her professional life, starting here in 2006 as Assistant Rabbi straight out of rabbinic school. During the 11 years that she was here, she made a mark on many initiatives, from working with young professionals to helping to re-invigorate Sisterhood, to innovative programming for our adult education classes, and much more. We rejoiced with her and Ben as they welcomed Kobi and then Orli into their family. For the last several years, Rabbi Laufer brought her personal life and energy to bear in her remarkable work with our youngest members and their families. Her New Moms Groups grew deep connections, and she oversaw the launch of exciting and popular programming for young families, which we know is one of her proudest legacies.
Each one of us has been touched by her heart-felt and thought-provoking sermons and empathetic presence. She has been an important support and incredibly helpful to members both in times of grief and spiritual joy, and these interactions will stay with many of us for years to come. We will miss her wonderful smile, her sharp intellect, her positive energy, and deep commitment.
