2025 CRS Israel Tzedakah Project Grant Recipients

Posted on

Each year, the Israel Tzedakah Committee carefully selects non-profit organizations in Israel to receive support from our community—one affiliated with the Reform Movement and another with a broader focus. In this particularly challenging year, as Israeli society continues to grapple with the aftermath of the October 7 attacks and ongoing conflict in the North, our committee has chosen two organizations dedicated to providing critical mental health and pastoral care to survivors and displaced families.

Safe Heart

Safe Heart was formed in direct response to the October 7 tragedy to provide immediate and ongoing mental health support for survivors of the NOVA music festival attacks. Their team—now more than 350 clinical professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and psychotherapists—specializes in trauma care, including support for individuals who may have been impacted under the influence of mind-altering substances. To date, Safe Heart has treated more than 1,000 survivors, offering a vital lifeline during an unimaginably difficult time.

Recently, Safe Heart was honored to present their work at the United Nations, a powerful recognition of their efforts.

Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism (IMPJ)

The Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism (IMPJ) is the communal, spiritual, and social arm of Reform Judaism in Israel. The IMPJ strengthens Jewish identity, promotes religious pluralism, and advocates for a Jewish and democratic Israel aligned with the spirit of the Declaration of Independence.

Since the October 7 attacks, IMPJ rabbis have been at the forefront of providing pastoral care to displaced families and survivors. In many cases, these rabbis are the only sources of spiritual support available to those who have lost their homes or loved ones. Through a network of over 50 congregations across Israel, IMPJ engages thousands in Jewish learning, life cycle events, social action, and community building.

Much work remains to be done to help those affected by these tragedies. We hope you’ll join us in supporting these two vital organizations.

Together, we can strengthen the bonds between our community and Israel and help bring healing to those who need it most.

  2. If your screen freezes during viewing, please try reloading your browser. Also try clearing your history and shutting down other programs and web pages.
  3. Google Chrome and Firefox work well with our Live Stream, while Safari can be less dependable. If you are unable to view Live Stream at all, please try a different browser.
  4. If you cannot hear the Live Stream, make sure you click “Tap to Unmute” at the top of the player.
