Election of Officers and Trustees

The Nominating Committee of the Board of Trustees has duly nominated for election the following:

OFFICERS to be elected for a one-year term ending in 2027:

Eileen Kleiman – President (1 year for 1st term)
Judy Gallent – Treasurer (1 year for 1st term)*
Bob Coven – Assistant Treasurer (1 year for 1st term)
Scott Alter – Vice President (1 year for 2nd term)*
Cara Lown – Vice President (1 year for 7th term)*
Beth Rubin – Vice President (1 year for 1st term)
Suzanne Waltman – Vice President (1 year for 4th term)**
Stacy Kanter – Chair of the Board of Trustees (1 year for 1st term)

* Continues as a Trustee during their newly elected one-year term as an officer

NEW TRUSTEES to be elected for a three-year term ending in 2029:

MICHAEL SAND

Michael Sand and his wife, Ilana Katz Sand, joined Congregation Rodeph Sholom in 2011. They have four children, all of whom attend or attended RSS.

Michael has served in several leadership roles within the community, including as Chair of the Rodeph Sholom School Board from 2023–2025. In that role, he also served on the CRS Board and worked closely with clergy and lay leadership to support the continued growth of the school and congregation.

Professionally, Michael is a partner at American Securities, a private equity firm focused on the energy and industrial sectors. He received his BS in Economics from the Wharton School and his MBA from Columbia Business School.


DAVID SCHUMER

David Schumer has been a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom since 2013. He and his wife, Abby, joined the congregation shortly before the birth of their son Jack, who is celebrating his Bar Mitzvah this May. Their daughter Aliza’s baby naming was also held at CRS, and the Schumer family has remained actively engaged in the community.

David first became involved through our Sholom Sprouts program. He serves on the Education Committee and helps lead parent engagement for the Discoveries program. He also co-chairs the Membership Engagement Council.

Professionally, David is a Managing Partner at his firm, Calibre One, and serves on its corporate board. His background spans project management, executive research, and finance.


NEAL SHAPIRO

Neal Shapiro has been a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom since 2000 and is a proud parent of RSS alumni. Together with his wife, journalist Juju Chang, Neal and his family have been actively connected to the CRS community for many years.

Neal currently serves as President and CEO of The WNET Group and has announced plans to retire in 2026 after nearly two decades of leadership.

A graduate of Tufts University, Neal has remained deeply engaged with his alma mater. He has served as Chair of the Tufts Communications and Media Studies Alumni Advisory Board and has taught at both Tufts University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Peabody Awards.

Budget Report and Approval of the 2026–2027 Budget

The 2026/2027 budget will be posted by Friday, May 15.

The overall revenue for CRS (including the Synagogue as submitted by the Synagogue Budget Committee and approved by the Synagogue Board of Trustees; and the Rodeph Sholom School as submitted by the Rodeph Sholom School Finance Committee and approved by the Rodeph Sholom School Board of Directors) for the coming year amounts to $41,145,348, which includes the carry-over of prior years’ surpluses of $773,822. Projected expenses are $41,145,348, which include a contingency of $736,241 and capital expenditures of $1,430,898.

  4. If you cannot hear the Live Stream, make sure you click “Tap to Unmute” at the top of the player.
  5. Sound is largely a function of the quality of your audio equipment. External speakers will greatly enhance the sound.
  6. If you are having trouble dialing in to services (audio only):
    • Dial (929) 205-6099 on your phone.
    • It will then ask for the meeting or webinar ID—Enter meeting/webinar ID (947 9181 4318) followed by #.
    • It will then ask for participant ID, but you can skip that and wait for it to ask for the meeting passcode. When it does, enter the meeting passcode (676 263) followed by #.
    • Once you’ve entered that, you should be dialed in and able to hear services.
