Reflections for Elul

Over the years, congregants have opened up and shared stories of struggle as growth each year on Shabbat Shuva, the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We have, each year, been moved not only by their willingness to share, but by the powerful messages of teshuvah (repentance) and gratitude which often permeate their words.

Our tradition teaches us that the month of Elul, leading up to the High Holy Days, is meant to be a month of spiritual contemplation and preparation. As Elul begins, several of our past Shabbat Shuva speakers have agreed to share their words again. We invite you to read the following thoughts, to reflect, and to begin preparing for our Season of Repentance.
