Please visit us
The mitzvah repeated most often in the Torah is to “welcome the stranger”. At Rodeph Sholom, we welcome all who wish to enter. You will not be, for even a minute, a “stranger”. Instead, you will be a “newcomer”. And we will do our gracious best to greet you, engage you and help you find your way to the worship, study or social action experience that you seek.

New Yorkers can choose from an infinite variety of opportunities for Jewish affiliation. So when you make the choice to walk through the magnificent doors at Rodeph Sholom, when you make the choice to explore congregational life inside our sacred space, we take that choice very seriously. Our Clergy, our staff and our congregants are all ambassadors to the rich spiritual and educational life at our synagogue. They will extend their hands and their hearts with the ultimate goal of establishing a personal connection with all who come to visit and eventually to stay. The unfamiliar: faces and floorplans, rituals and routines, quickly become the familiar.

We are a large congregation enriched by the many small, overlapping and interconnected communities inside it; these are our hallmark. Abraham and Sarah modeled simple welcoming Jewish behavior. They opened the doors to their tent on all sides, extending an invitation to all who passed: an invitation to community and sustenance. This, too, is our model. All of our doors are open. Venture inside, you are invited.
