Rabbi Sari R. Laufer

Associate Rabbi

Rabbi Sari Laufer started her path to the rabbinate as an Eisendrath Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.  A cum laude graduate of Northwestern University, Rabbi Laufer was ordained in 2006 by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles.  A Wexner Graduate Fellow, Rabbi Laufer was named the first Sara and Simha Lainer Beit Midrash Scholar at HUC in Los Angeles.  At HUC, she was awarded several academic prizes in Talmud and rabbinic literature, as well as HUC-LA’s Outstanding Female Student Award. She was recently selected to participate in the PEER Program through Synagogue Transformation and Renewal.

Before joining the team at CRS, Rabbi Laufer worked at several Reform synagogues in the Los Angeles area, and was a chaplaincy intern at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. She was the rabbinic intern at the Board of Rabbis of Southern California, She was born and raised in New York City, and is married to Ben Cutter.
